Affiliate disclosure

trygohighlevelnow.com is an independent resource, not affiliated with or endorsed by HighLevel Inc. We participate in the GoHighLevel affiliate program, which means we may earn a commission when you start a trial or subscribe through a link on this site. You pay exactly the same price either way. We publish the drawbacks alongside the strengths — if a tool is wrong for your use case, saying so is worth more to us than a commission.

How we evaluate this comparison

We use it on client work
We run GoHighLevel sub-accounts for real local-business clients — chiropractors, med spas, and similar. The opinions here come from configuring and operating the platform as a paying customer, not from a demo video.
Prices come from the vendors, and are dated
Every price is taken from the vendor's own public pricing page and stamped with the date we checked it. Usage costs (SMS, email, AI) are listed separately, because the plan price is not the bill.
We name who should not buy
Any verdict that cannot tell you who the product is wrong for is an advertisement. Every review and comparison here names the people we think should buy something else.
We say when a competitor wins
Comparison pages include the rows where the other tool is genuinely better. We earn nothing when you pick the competitor, and we still write the row.

The commission does not change the verdict. We earn an affiliate commission if you sign up through this site, at no extra cost to you. It is also the reason we are careful: the fastest way to lose a reader permanently is to sell them a tool that is wrong for them. Where GoHighLevel is the wrong answer, we say so and send you elsewhere — including to tools we earn nothing from.

Podium alternative

Podium alternative: is GoHighLevel better?

This is the closest true AI head-to-head we have, and the honest table is uncomfortable: Podium's AI Employee is better tuned out of the box than GoHighLevel's Voice AI. It also costs two to four times as much, it is quote-only, and you cannot resell it. Everything else on this page follows from those two facts.

GoHighLevel pricing verified on its public pricing page as of July 2026. Podium does not publish pricing — its pricing page directs you to sales — so every Podium figure below is either marked "not published" or attributed to a third-party analysis. We do not invent numbers.

Choose GoHighLevel if…

  • You want to know the price before you speak to a salesperson.
  • You run more than one location, or more than one client.
  • You need the marketing platform too — funnels, campaigns, courses, pipelines.
  • You intend to sell the AI to clients under your own brand.

Choose Podium if…

  • Nobody in your business is going to configure or prompt anything, ever.
  • You want the best-tuned local-business AI responder and you have the budget for it.
  • Reviews and the messaging inbox are the product you are actually buying.
  • You are one location, and in-store text-to-pay matters to you.

We earn nothing if you pick Podium. Pick it anyway if that list is you — their pricing page is here (you will have to ask).

AI, side by side

The AI comparison — the closest fight in the set

AI capabilities of GoHighLevel and Podium compared, including gating and cost, as of July 2026.
Feature GoHighLevel Podium
AI voice agent (answers the phone, qualifies, books) Yes — Voice AI. Good, if you build it well. Yes — the AI Employee. Podium's flagship, and genuinely better tuned out of the box.
AI chat / conversation agent Yes — SMS, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Google Business Profile Yes — web chat, SMS, Google Business Profile, Facebook. Response speed and tone are the best part of the product.
AI content generation Yes — Content AI for emails, funnels, social and ads Yes — AI review responses and campaign copy
AI workflow assist Yes — workflow AI + a custom Agent Studio Moderate — automations around the inbox
Predictive / lead scoring No — intent detection only Light lead prioritisation
Tuning effort required Podium wins this row Real. A badly prompted GoHighLevel agent underperforms, and most of them are badly prompted. Almost none. It works out of the box, which is what you are paying the premium for.
What the AI costs Metered: ~$0.045/min engine + $0.015–$0.170/min TTS + LLM tokens ≈ $0.16/min blended, or $97/mo AI Employee Unlimited per sub-account Quote-only. Podium does not publish a price for the AI Employee — you have to call.
Can you white-label and resell the AI? Yes No

Podium wins conversational quality out of the box; GoHighLevel wins breadth, published pricing and resale. GoHighLevel's Voice AI meter is real — roughly $0.16/minute blended — so price your actual call volume in the cost calculator rather than assuming the $97 add-on covers everything. Telephony minutes bill separately.

Money

What each one actually costs

Podium: quote-only — they don't publish pricing

We attempted to verify Podium's pricing at source in July 2026. Podium's pricing page states that plans are "designed to fit your specific business needs" and directs you to its sales team. There is no published plan price, and no published price for the AI Employee. That is Podium's choice and it is a legitimate one — but it means we will not print a Podium number as fact.

What we can tell you is what independent 2026 pricing analyses report: a Core tier around $399/month, a Pro tier around $599/month, extra users in the $25–$30/month range, extra locations around $50/month, and the AI Employee as an add-on somewhere between $99 and $399/month depending on configuration. Podium Phones is also reported to carry a per-location network optimisation fee. Treat all of that as secondhand and confirm it on a call.

GoHighLevel: the number is on the website

$97/month (Starter), $297/month (Unlimited — unlimited sub-accounts, contacts and users), $497/month (Pro, with SaaS Mode reselling), and $97/month per sub-account for AI Employee Unlimited. Voice AI is metered underneath that — around $0.045/minute for the engine, $0.015–$0.170/minute for text-to-speech and LLM tokens on top, blending to roughly $0.16/minute — plus telephony. Every rate is on our pricing page and you can model your own volumes in the calculator.

Using the third-party Podium figures, one location with the AI Employee lands somewhere around $500–$800/month. The same location on GoHighLevel is $297 + $97, with the platform included and the option to add nine more locations for nothing. That is the commercial argument, and it depends entirely on numbers Podium will not publish — which is itself a fact worth weighing.

The honest part

Where each one genuinely wins

Three rows Podium wins outright

  1. Out-of-the-box conversational quality. The AI Employee responds fast, sounds right, and books without you engineering a single prompt. GoHighLevel's agents can match it — but only if somebody does the work, and most people do not.
  2. Reviews and the messaging inbox. More polished than GoHighLevel's, with a genuinely strong Google Business Profile messaging integration. This is the product Podium was built on and it shows.
  3. Text-to-pay for local retail. Smoother than GoHighLevel's payments for an in-store transaction.

Four rows GoHighLevel wins outright

  1. Published pricing. You can budget a GoHighLevel deployment without a sales call. You cannot budget Podium at all without one.
  2. Total cost. Unlimited sub-accounts at $297 against per-location pricing plus a per-location AI add-on.
  3. Everything beyond the inbox. Funnels, websites, courses, memberships, full marketing automation, pipelines. Podium is a conversation layer; GoHighLevel is the platform underneath one.
  4. White-label and resale. An agency can sell GoHighLevel's AI as its own product. Podium is always Podium.

The verdict

If you are one location, you have the budget, and nobody in the building is going to configure software: Podium is worth the premium and its AI is the better product on the day you switch it on. If you are an agency, a multi-location operator, or anyone who wants the marketing platform as well as the inbox — GoHighLevel does the same job for a published price, does eight other jobs alongside it, and lets you put your own logo on the result.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Podium alternative for a local business?
GoHighLevel is the obvious one, and the trade is explicit: you get the same jobs — AI answering, messaging inbox, review requests — plus funnels, email, courses and a CRM, at a published $297/month rather than a quote. What you give up is the tuning. Podium's AI Employee works well the moment you switch it on; GoHighLevel's Voice AI is only as good as the prompts and workflows you build behind it. If nobody in your business is going to configure anything, Podium earns its premium.
How much does Podium cost?
Podium does not publish pricing. Its pricing page says only that plans are "designed to fit your specific business needs, talk to our sales team for details", and we will not print a number we could not read at the vendor's own source. Third-party 2026 analyses report a Core tier around $399/month, a Pro tier around $599/month, and an AI Employee add-on somewhere between $99 and $399/month — treat those as secondhand, not as Podium's word. GoHighLevel, by contrast, publishes $97, $297 and $497, and $97/month for AI Employee Unlimited.
Is Podium's AI better than GoHighLevel's Voice AI?
Out of the box, yes. Podium's AI Employee is the closest thing in this category to an agent that simply works — the conversational tone, the speed to first response and the booking flow all land without prompt engineering, and that is the product's entire proposition. GoHighLevel's Voice AI can reach the same place, but it takes real configuration and most people never do that work. Where GoHighLevel wins is that it is two to four times cheaper, far broader, and you can sell it to your clients under your own brand.
GoHighLevel vs Podium — which is cheaper for a multi-location business?
GoHighLevel, and it is not close, because Podium prices per location while GoHighLevel gives you unlimited sub-accounts from $297/month. Using the third-party reported figures — a base around $399–$599 plus an AI Employee add-on — a single Podium location lands somewhere in the $500–$800/month range, and each additional location adds to it. Five locations on GoHighLevel is still $297/month, plus $97 per location that needs AI Employee Unlimited, plus metered usage. Verify Podium's numbers with their sales team; they will not publish them.
Can an agency resell Podium to its clients?
Not in the way you can resell GoHighLevel. Podium is sold to the business, branded as Podium, and there is no white-label layer, no sub-account model and no SaaS-mode reselling. GoHighLevel Pro at $497/month lets an agency put its own logo on the platform, spin up a sub-account per client, and bill them for software rather than hours. If you are an agency, that is not a feature difference — it is a different business.
